Too Hot for Radio Ep. 13: Aimee Bender “Quiet Please”

2 min readFeb 8, 2017

Over the years, Selected Shorts at Symphony Space has recorded amazing stories that due to language issues or content advisories were, well, too hot for radio. Now we’ve gone into the vault, selected some of the best of these recordings, and created this new podcast. Welcome to Selected Shorts: Too Hot For Radio.

Each episode centers around one story, whether it’s 5 minutes or 45 and will feature commentary and special guests. The show is hosted by comedian Aparna Nancherla.

About Episode 13

Josh Radnor (top), Aimee Bender (bottom)

Josh Radnor steps into the hosting chair to introduce a story by a frequent Shorts’ contributor, Aimee Bender, but one that never had a chance to make the radio show. “Quiet Please” has been described as a “racy modern fairy tale,” and we think you’ll agree after hearing actress Valorie Curry bring it to life. After the story, Josh and Aimee talk about writing, reading, and dinner parties.
